Salamanca was a Spanish manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

The company was founded by Carlos de Salamanca y Hurtado de Zaldivar (Marqués de Salamanca) in Madrid . Carlos Salamanca was already an importer of Rolls-Royce in Spain at the time . In 1902 the company started producing its own automobiles. Production ended in 1907. From 1907 the company focused only on the sale of motor vehicles, and is today the Spanish importer of Ferrari , Jaguar , Maserati , Bentley , Aston Martin , Land Rover and Harley-Davidson under the company name Carlos de Salamanca SA .

The components such as engines, transmissions and differentials were taken over from French productions and assembled and completed in hand-made wooden chassis. A special feature of the Salamanca vehicles was the in-house development of a radiator made of serpentine pipes arranged vertically in the front of the vehicles.

A vehicle of this brand can be seen at the Collecció d'Automòbils de Salvador Claret car museum in Sils .
