The district of Vizcatán del Ene is located in the province of Satipo in the administrative region of Junín in central Peru . The district was formed on October 2, 2015 from parts of the Pangoa district. It has an area of ​​608 km². The 2017 census counted 4765 inhabitants. The administrative center is the 485  m high village of San Miguel del Ene with 519 inhabitants (as of 2017). San Miguel del Ene is located on the left bank of the Río Ene , about 125 km southeast of the provincial capital Satipo .

Geographical location

The Vizcatán del Ene district is located in the extreme south of the Satipo Province. It is bounded in the south by the Río Mantaro , in the east by the Río Ene and in the north by the Río Yaviro.

The district of Vizcatán del Ene borders in the south on the districts Canayre and Pucacolpa (both in the province Huanta ), in the west on the district Tintay Puncu ( province Tayacaja ), in the north on the district Pangoa, in the northeast on the district Río Tambo as well as in extreme southeast to the district of Pichari ( province of La Convención ).
