Santiago María García de la Rasilla Domínguez SJ (born October 18, 1936 in Madrid ; † August 13, 2018 in Lima ) was a Spanish religious and apostolic vicar of Jaén en Peru o San Francisco Javier in Peru .

Life

Santiago Maria García de la Rasilla Dominguez entered the Society of Jesus at the age of 17 . He studied philosophy in Alcalá de Henares , where he obtained his licentiate . He studied theology in Granada . From 1976 to 1977 he attended the Paul VI Institute. of the Pontifical University of Salamanca .

On 14 July 1967 he was in Madrid for priests ordained and immediately sent to Peru. On August 15, 1973 he made his perpetual vows and held the following offices as a priest: Spiritual and teacher at the college “St. Ignatius ”, spiritual guide to the“ Cursillos ”and the“ Movimiento Familiar Cristiano ”(1972–1976); Pastor of the parish of “San Pedro” and member of the Consultor and Presbyteral Council of the Diocese of Tacna , and spiritual director of the same movements (1977-1998). Member of the support group of the community “Movement for a better life” (1998–2005); Head of the Provincial House “San Francisco de Borja” in Lima (2002–2004); since 2004 superior of the house "San Pedro" in Lima.

He was on November 11, 2005 by Pope Benedict XVI. Appointed Titular Bishop of Voncaria and Vicar Apostolic of Jaén en Peru o San Francisco Javier. The Archbishop of Piura , Oscar Rolando Cantuarias pastor , donated him episcopal ordination on January 13 of the following year. Co- consecrators were the Apostolic Nuncio in Peru, Archbishop Rino Passigato , and his predecessor, the Archbishop of Huancayo , Pedro Ricardo Barreto Jimeno SJ. As bishop he encouraged the laity to participate in preaching and in pastoral care .

Pope Francis accepted his age-related resignation on June 11, 2014.

Santiago María García de la Rasilla Domínguez died on August 13, 2018 in Lima.
