Sara Maria Lindborg (born November 30, 1983 in Hosjö ) is a Swedish cross-country skier .

Career

Lindborg had her first international appearance at the 2003 Junior World Championships in Sollefteå . She finished there in 35th place over 15 kilometers freestyle (mass start). The following year, she started in Östersund for the first time in the Continental Cup , where she finished 19th in the pursuit competition. A few months later, she was nominated for the World Cup in Umeå nominated. In her first use in the highest cross-country skiing racing series, she finished 63rd over 10 kilometers classic. With a third place over 10 kilometers in the classic Scandinavian Cup , she qualified again for the World Cup in the 2005/06 season . In Oberstdorf , she just missed her first World Cup points as 33rd in the pursuit competition. At the U23 World Championships in Kranj , she achieved seventh place over 10 kilometers as the best result. Lindborg gained her first World Cup points with 28th place in La Clusaz over 15 kilometers of freestyle (mass start) in the 2006/07 season . Lindborg celebrated her first podium a day later together with the Swedish relay team. With a 12th place over 10 kilometers classic in Otepää , Estonia , she secured the ticket for the Nordic World Ski Championships 2007 in Sapporo . There she convinced with a 16th place over 30 kilometers classic (mass start). Over 10 kilometers freestyle and in the skiathlon competition she reached places 24 and 31. After finishing second with the relay in La Clusaz at the beginning of the 2008/09 season, she achieved 24th place in the Tour de Ski 2008/09 . In February 2009 she was in the top ten four times in the Scandinavian Cup. She won the 5 km freestyle in Ulricehamn and reached eighth place overall at the end of the season. In the 2009/10 season she won the competition in Beitostølen with the Swedish relay . Her best individual World Cup result of the season was 20th place in the Tour de Ski stage in Cortina - Toblach over 5 km classic. In the following season she finished 35th at the Nordic Opening in Kuusamo and 27th at the World Cup final in Falun . In addition, she won third place with the relay in La Clusaz in December 2010. At the season highlight of the Nordic World Ski Championships 2011 in Oslo , she came in 30th place in the skiathlon and in the 30 km mass start race and 25th place over 10 km classic. Her best individual World Cup result in the 2011/12 season was 14th place over 10 km classic in Otepää. At the beginning of April 2012, she was third at the Swedish championships over 30 km classic. In the 2012/13 season she came 28th at the Nordic Opening in Kuusamo and 39th at the 2012/13 Tour de Ski . At the Tour de Ski 2013/14 she reached 11th place in the overall World Cup with two top ten placements. At the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi , she achieved 39th place in the 30 km mass start race, 20th place in skiathlon and 16th place over 10 km classic. At the end of the season she reached 15th place in the World Cup finals in Falun and finished the season in 26th place in the overall World Cup and 24th place in the Distance World Cup. In the 2015/16 season she took part in the Ski Classics . She came nine times in the top ten, including third place in the Jizera Mountains Run and thus achieved fourth place in the overall standings. In the 2016/17 season she took third place in the Ski Classics five times (prologue in Pontresina , La Sgambeda , La Diagonela , Marcialonga , Wasalauf ) and thus achieved fourth place in the overall ranking.
