Background information
United States and Canada
The album Sarah Connor was released in 2004 in response to the airplay success of her single Bounce . When Connor's third studio album Key to My Soul was released in the fall of 2003 , American DJs began playing their song Bounce around the same time . At the end of January 2004, promo singles were then sent to American radio stations, where there was a lot of airplay and finally reached number 11 on the airplay charts. Sony Music realized it was a potential hit and decided to release an album in the US and Canada in March 2004. Since Sarah Connor could not make any new recordings because of her baby break, the album was put together as a compilation from the songs of the three albums previously released. As cover has been Artwork from the debut album Green Eyed Soul used for Canada a colored version of the artwork of their second single French Kissing . The album could not be advertised when it was released because the singer was still on maternity leave. Although the album only reached number 106 on the Billboard 200 , it reached number 1 on the Billboard Top Heatseekers, which lists new artists who do not make it into the Billboard Top 100. Sarah Connor remained her only American album release. Bounce was released on record in April 2004 and finally on CD in early May and reached number 54 on the American singles chart.
Australia
In May 2004, Bounce was also released in Australia. It reached number 1 in the Australian dance charts and was able to stay in the Australian singles charts for twelve weeks, where it reached the highest ranking with number 14 in June 2004. The album Sarah Connor was released in June 2004, but did not reach any chart positions.
United Kingdom
After the release of Bounce in America and Australia, the single was also released in the UK on May 24, 2004 with a major advertising campaign. For this, Connor appeared in the British TV show Top Of The Pops and in May 2007 performed at the Equinox Club and the Astoria in London. As a result, she reached number 14 in the singles charts. In June 2004, the album Sarah Connor was released , but it did not make it into the charts.
Japan
After Sarah Connor reached number 14 in the UK singles chart with her single Bounce , she continued her advertising campaign in Japan. There she released the album Bounce on July 28, 2004 , which was put together as a compilation from the songs of the three previously released albums. It also includes two bonus tracks from her song Bounce and a DVD with the music videos for Bounce and From Sarah with Love . Reviews
Allmusic's Johnny Loftus notes that Connor wanted to conquer the US market with the compilation of the hits from her three albums that had been released by then and particularly highlights the hit single Bounce , which he compares with Christina Aguilera . Sarah Connor's slight German accent makes her unmistakable and the album works especially because of its Europop borrowings.
