Ladik in the Sarayönü district

Sarayönü is a city and a district in the Turkish province of Konya . Since a regional reform in 2014 , the municipality ( Belediye ) is congruent with the district (İlçe). All previous villages ( köy ) are now districts ( Mahalle ) of the municipality. The city is located about 45 kilometers north of the provincial capital Konya .

The district is located in the northern center of the province. It borders on Selçuklu to the south, Kadınhanı to the west, Cihanbeyli to the northeast and Altınekin to the east . In the south, the D-300 highway from Izmir via Afyonkarahisar to Konya crosses the district, with which the district town is connected via a feeder. In addition, a country road leads east to the D-715 and to Altınekin. The branch of the Anatolian Railway from Eskişehir to Konya runs through Sarayönü . The north of the district belongs to the Cihanbeyli Platosu plateau , in the south are the foothills of the Bozdağ mountain range with the 1189 meter high Keçibaşı Tepesi peak . To the east are the Kırkarşın Tepesi (1321 meters), the Selimağlı Tepesi (1168 meters) and the Dikmen Tepesi (1182 meters). South of the main town, between the towns of Ladik and Kurşunlu , is the Ladik Göleti reservoir , about eight kilometers east of the town of Başhüyük Göleti .
