Seydişehir is a city and a district in the Turkish province of Konya . Since a regional reform in 2014 , the municipality ( Belediye ) is congruent with the district (İlçe). All previous villages ( köy ) are now districts ( Mahalle ) of the municipality. The city is located about 75 kilometers southwest of the provincial capital Konya .

Seydişehir

The district is located in the southwest of the province. It borders on Derebucak in the west, Beyşehir in the northwest , Meram in the northeast, Akören in the east, Ahırlı and Yalıhüyük in the southeast and the province of Antalya in the southwest . Several highways meet around Seydişehir. The D-340 runs from Beyşehir to Mut from north to southeast , in the south the D-695 leads to the Mediterranean coast at Manavgat , in the northeast the D-696 to Konya and in the west a road over the Taraşçıbeli Geçidi pass to Derebucak. In the southwest, the Büyükgözet Dağı mountain range stretches along the border with the 2529 meter high summit of the same name. In the east lies the mountain Alacadağ with a height of 2291 meters, an extension of the mountain range of the same name, which lies further east. Lake Suğla Gölü is located on the southern border with Yalıhüyük . It is connected to Beyşehir Gölü , further north, via the Beyşehir Kanalı . In the western area of ​​the district town there are various reservoirs, including the Gökçehüyük Barajı , the Kırmızı Çamur Barajı and the Taraşçı Sulama Barajı , further to the north the Dipsiz Göl , the İnlice Gölü and, on the border to Meram, the Gavur Gölü .

Worth seeing

To the north of the main town are two prehistoric settlement mounds, Akçalar Höyük and Karabulak Höyük. There are several caves in the district including the Körükini Mağarası, the Susuz Mağarası, and the Tınaztepe Mağarası.

Sports

The local football club Etibank Seydişehir Alüminyumspor , better known under the short name Etibank SAS , played from 1984 in the third and fourth league , before he rose to the second highest division, the TFF 1. Lig , in 1985 . Here he was only able to hold out for one season and returned to the 3rd Turkish league in 1986. In the summer of 2001, the club was relegated from this league and said goodbye to Turkish professional football.

In addition to this most successful and well-known football club, there are or existed several smaller amateur clubs, but none of these clubs managed to participate in Turkish professional football.
