Karatay is a city and a district in the Turkish province of Konya . Since a regional reform in 2014 , the municipality ( Belediye ) is congruent with the district (İlçe). All previous villages ( köy ) are now districts ( Mahalle ) of the municipality. The eastern part of the central city of Konya belongs to the city .
The district is located in the center of the province. It borders on Karapınar to the southeast, Çumra to the south, Meram to the west, Selçuklu to the northwest , Altınekin to the north and Aksaray province to the east . The D-300 road to Aksaray and Nevşehir runs through the district from Konya to the northeast, and the D-330 to Ereğli to the southeast and on to European route 90 . The district belongs to the Konya Plain (Konya Ovası), in the east lies the Hodulbaba Dağı mountain range with the mountain of the same name (1746 meters), and the elevations Koyunkıran Tepesi (1483 meters) and Peynirlik Tepesi (1583 meters).
Attractions
In the west, the eastern center of Konya with the Mevlana Müzesi (Mevlana Museum) and the Mevlana Kültür Merkezi (Mevlana Cultural Center) belongs to the district .
