Akören is a city and a district in the Turkish province of Konya . Since a regional reform in 2014, the municipality ( Belediye ) is congruent with the district (İlçe). All previous villages ( köy ) are now districts ( Mahalle ) of the municipality. The city is located about 50 kilometers south of the provincial capital Konya .

The district is located in the south of the province. It borders in the west on Ahırlı and Seydişehir , in the north on Meram , in the east on Çumra and in the south on Bozkır . Country roads connect the capital in the east with the D-715 from Konya to Silifke , in the south with Bozkır, in the west with the D-340 from Beyşehir to Mut and in the north with the provincial capital. Southwest of the district town is the Alacadağ mountain range with the 2130 meter high Ulusivri Tepesi and the 1682 meter high Karakışla Tepesi . The southern border of the district is formed by the Mavi Boğaz Gorge , through which the Çarşamba Çayı flows, connecting the Suğla Gölü lakes in the west and Apa Barajı in the east. In the north, flowing from west to east of Çomaklar Deresi , in the northwest is the place Kayasu the small lake Kayasu Göleti .
