Scherbakul ( Russian Шербакуль , from Kazakh Scharbakitkul , translated "Happy Los Lake") is an urban-type settlement in the Omsk Oblast ( Russia ) with 6976 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010).
Scherbakul is located about 70 km southwest of Omsk . The place is the administrative center of the Scherbakul Rajons , which in addition to the township (gorodskoje posselenije) Scherbakul nine rural communities (selskoje posselenije) belong.
The population consists mainly of Russians , Germans , and Kazakhs . Many Germans moved to Germany between 1993 and 2000 .
The economic development is mainly dependent on the food industry ( large bakery ). There is also a brick factory, a road maintenance depot and a telecommunications service support point . The district hospital with 300 beds is located in Schebarkul .
There are two kindergartens , three schools and a German meeting place, which was visited in 1994 by a delegation of members of the German Bundestag .
The Rajon administrative manager is Sergei Viktorovich Grebjonkin, and before him was Andrej Jakowlewitsch Berg.
