Tavritscheskoje ( Russian Таври́ческое ) is an urban-type settlement in the Omsk Oblast ( Russia ) with 13,141 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010).

geography

The settlement is located in the southeast of the West Siberian lowlands , just under 50 km south of the oblast capital Omsk and 10 km from the left bank of the Irtysh .

Tavritscheskoje is the administrative center of the Tavritscheskoje Rajon of the same name .

history

The place was founded in 1900 by resettlers from the Taurian governorate (Russian: Tawritscheskaja gubernija , after the old name for the Crimea ) and named after the area of ​​origin.

As part of an administrative reform, Tavritscheskoje became the administrative center of a Rajons in 1924. In 1969 the place received the status of an urban-type settlement.

Culture and sights

Since 1990 there has been a Rajon local museum in Tavritscheskoje and since 1993 a picture gallery.

Economy and Infrastructure

In Tavritscheskoje, as the center of an agricultural area, there are companies in the food industry.

The settlement extends between the 1960-built railway Omsk - karasuk  - Srednesibirskaja (also means-Siberian Railway called; Station Strela at kilometer 57) to the east and the regional road R390 , the Omsk south into the Rajonverwaltungszentrum Russkaya Polyana near the border with Kazakhstan leads and Tavritscheskoje to the west bypasses.
