geography

The settlement is located in the southeast of the West Siberian lowlands , about 200 km as the crow flies northeast of the Oblast capital Omsk, mainly on the left bank of the Irtysh tributary Tara .

history

The Russian settlement of the area around today's settlement, which was previously inhabited exclusively by Turkic peoples, began with the arrival of Cossacks from Tara in 1667 above the Tara tributary Bergamak. Muromzewo itself was founded in 1707. Due to its location on a branch of the Siberian tract , it developed into a local trading center. In the 19th century in particular, numerous resettlers came to the area from the central Russian governorates of Smolensk , Ryazan , Penza and Tambov .

As part of an administrative reform, Muromzewo became the administrative center of a Rajons in 1924. In 1968 it received urban-type settlement status.
