history

The village goes back to the Ischimski ostrog , built in 1631 , in which Cossacks from Tara were initially stationed. In 1720 a village was established there, the name of which, initially Ust-Ischimskaja sloboda , is derived from the Russian ustje for “mouth” and the river name. In the 19th century, Ust-Ishim, mainly inhabited by Russians , became the seat of a Volost . The Tatar village of Sargatka, which emerged in the immediate vicinity, grew together with Ust-Ishim until the 1920s. Since May 25, 1925, Ust-Ishim has been the administrative seat of a Rajon named after him.
