Schiaßer See, Nieplitz bulge

The village of Schiaß is the smallest district of Ludwigsfelde , a medium -sized town in the Brandenburg district of Teltow-Fläming . The village, which was independent until 1973, is about seven kilometers southwest of the city center of Ludwigsfelde and about 20 kilometers southwest of Berlin . The small town has 44 inhabitants (as of 2007) on a district area of 2.19 km².

The village is located in the Nuthe-Nieplitz Nature Park on the Schiaßer See , a bulge of the Nieplitz that flows into the Nuthe about a kilometer northeast of Schiaß .

History and economy

etymology

The oldest written mention of Schiaß can be found in the land book of Charles IV. From 1375 as Schojas , in 1545 the name Schoias can be found . There are different derivations for the etymology of the name. According to Reinhard E. Fischer , the names of the Möckern districts of Hohenziatz or Lüttgenziatz, which were first mentioned in 992 as Ziazinauici , have been transferred. For 1187 these places are called Zojas . Fischer translates the Slavic resident name as people who live behind the ash trees . Christa and Johannes Jankowiak, on the other hand, derive the name from the Slavic Zajas = behind the weir , behind the dam .

Fisheries and cultural space

The small village center forms a typical round , which was very likely already settled in Slavic times. The settlement was formed on a small elevation in the river valley , a valley sand island . The residents and also the German settlers who came to the country after the founding of the Mark Brandenburg in 1157 lived for a long time exclusively from fishing in the Schiaßer See. The lake is still fished today, but the last professional fisherman stopped working in the 1960s. The economic orientation today is mainly in agriculture .

In terms of culture, Schiaß is part of the Teltow . The place is centrally located in the Thümenschen Winkel so called by Theodor Fontane , which was ruled by the von Thümen family in the late Middle Ages and until the nineteenth century of modern times . For centuries the family had their headquarters in Stangenhagen, about six kilometers to the southwest .

Lage and Schiaß today

Fire station of the volunteer fire brigade

Schiaß is surrounded by the following places: in the northwest of Tremsdorf from the municipality of Nuthetal , in the north of the Ludwigsfeld district of Gröben , in the northeast of the Ludwigsfeld district of Jütchendorf , in the southeast of the Ludwigsfeld district of Mietgendorf and in the southwest of the Trebbin district of Blankensee . The connecting road Blankensee - Jütchendorf runs through the village.

Like the neighboring town of Mietgendorf, Schiaß does not have a church either . For a long time, the residents had to go to Trebbin for pastoral care, which in the second half of the 16th century cost them a church tax of nine bushels of wheat a year. Today the village is parish to Blankensee. There is no school in the small town, the children are brought to the 4th Ludwigsfeld primary school by school bus . In the event of a fire, the Mietgendorf-Schiaß volunteer fire brigade is responsible, which is located in the neighboring village and celebrated its 70th anniversary in 2003. The fire department maintains a small fire station in Schiaß , which was renovated in 2002. The interests of the village are represented by a local council and the local mayor . In the case of elections, Schiaß forms a joint electoral district with Mietgendorf and Jütchendorf, voting takes place in the Jütchendorfer community center (→ local election 2003, result electoral district 0022 ).

The oldest house in the village, which is worth seeing, dates back to around 1750. The half-timbered house has bright green walls and a thatched roof , which is decorated with two stylized necks of cranes and storks as a symbol of the Nuthe-Nieplitz nature park.

Natural area and Schiaßer See

Chain of lakes of the Nieplitz in the Nuthe-Nieplitz Nature Park

The natural area around Schiaß and its flora and fauna are shaped by the characteristics of the Nuthe-Nieplitz lowland ( → Nuthe-Nieplitz Nature Park ). In the former Ice Age gully between Schiaß and Jütchendorf, through which the old and new Nuthe flow, the Great Nuthemoor is said to have been located in the past, which made a connection between the neighboring villages impossible for a long time.

The Schiaßer See, surrounded by grassland, has an area of around five (other information eight) hectares with a maximum depth of five meters. The small body of water has a high level of phosphate , which is probably due to the P-movement of the immediately neighboring Grössinsee . It forms a lake-like extension in the hypertrophic river-lake system in the lower reaches of the Nieplitz, which consists of the Blankensee , Grössinsee and Schiaßer See.

From the Schiaßer See the Nieplitz meanders through a large reed area to the Nuthe. The inaccessible reed bed is a breeding and moulting area for various species of ducks . In the 1970s breeding teal ducks ( Anas querquedula ) were encountered. The gray heron ( Ardea cinerea ) also finds good hiding spots in the area for rearing offspring. Also in the 1970s there was a small occurrence of pond turtles ( Emys orbicularis ) in the Nieplitz estuary and otters ( Lutra lutra ) still live here today.
