The municipalities of Bärenthal , Irndorf , Nusplingen and Schwenningen created a joint network of trails for winter sports enthusiasts in 2011. After the connection of the newly created cross-country ski trail on Gnadenweiler to the Indorfer cross-country ski trail network was created, a large area for cross-country skiing was created through the merger with the existing Nusplinger and Schwenninger trails through the Irndorfer Hardt.
Straw park
Since 1996 every year in late summer Schwenningen clubs, groups, children and companies have been building the straw park . From September to mid-October, around 30 figures, buildings and ensembles, some of them larger than life, are shown on the meadow at the Heuberghalle. All work is done by hand. The exhibition is rounded off by various activities, such as benefit concerts, a concert by the pensioners combo, traditional chicken dinner and more. The open-air event is also attracting a great deal of national attention, as evidenced by thousands of visitors. At all entrances to the village there are interesting straw works of art from last year's spectacle.
