Sergejs Naumovs (born April 4, 1969 in Riga , Latvian SSR ) is a former Latvian ice hockey goalkeeper and current coach .
Career
Naumovs started his career at Dinamo Riga and moved to HK CSKA Moscow in 1991 . In 1993 he returned to his hometown for a year before moving to North America and playing for various clubs in the minor leagues . Between 1995 and 2000 he was under contract with the San Diego Gulls . There he spent the most successful time of his career. Between 1996 and 1998 the team won the Taylor Cup , the championship trophy of the West Coast Hockey League, three times in a row . He himself was named the most valuable player in the playoffs in 1996 and 1998 and the best goalkeeper in the league in 1996.

After he had started the 2000/01 season with the Greensboro Generals in the East Coast Hockey League , he moved to Sweden for Leksands IF in early 2001 . This was followed by a season at Djurgårdens IF . He then moved back to Russia, where SKA Saint Petersburg , Severstal Tscherepowez , Salawat Julajew Ufa , Vitjas Chekhov , Chimik Voskressensk and Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod were further stages of his career until the summer of 2006.
The Latvian spent the 2006/07 season at HC Bozen in Italy , where he won the Coppa Italia , the Italian cup competition. In the following season he stood for HK Homel in the Belarusian championship in goal. In the summer of 2008 he was signed by the newly founded KHL participant Dinamo Riga , for whom he played for a year. For the 2009/10 season he joined the Dinamo Juniors Riga , but only played one game in the Belarusian extra league for the team before ending his active career.
Between 2009 and 2012 he worked as a goalkeeping coach for Dinamo Riga from the KHL and for HK Riga from the multinational youth league Molodjoschnaja Chokkeinaja Liga . He then followed the former head coach Július Šupler from Dinamo to HK Donbass Donetsk in the same position.
In the 2014/15 season he was goalkeeping coach at Atlant Moskovskaya Oblast , and between 2015 and 2018 he was employed in the same position at Lokomotive Yaroslavl . In the 2018/19 season he was goalkeeping coach at HK CSKA Moscow .
International
Along with Artūrs Irbe and Edgars Masaļskis, Naumovs is one of the best goalkeepers in Latvia in the last 20 years. He played in many world championships and two Olympic games. He is also part of the Latvian squad at the 2010 Winter Olympics .
