history

The place was first mentioned in the Würzburger Lehenbuch from 1303 as "Siglasdorf". The defining word of the place name is the personal name Sigilo.

Towards the end of the 18th century there were 8 properties in Siegelsdorf. The high court exercised the Brandenburg-Ansbach city bailiff Langenzenn . The village and township government had the St. Clare Monastery office held. The landlords were the churches of Burgfarrnbach and Seukendorf (1 Gütlein), the Teutonic Order Commander Nuremberg (2 goods), the Imperial City of Nuremberg : St. Klara Monastery Office (1 courtyard, 1 Gütlein, 1 shepherd's house), State Almosenamt (1 courtyard) and the Nuremberg owner by Pömer (1 good).

As part of the community edict, Siegelsdorf was assigned to the Veitsbronn tax district, formed in 1808 . It also belonged to the rural community Veitsbronn formed in the same year .

On June 10, 1928, a railway accident occurred that made the place known nationwide. The night train D 47 derailed when crossing the Zenngrundbrücke shortly before entering the Siegelsdorf station. 24 people died and more than 100 were injured, some seriously. The cause was probably insufficient maintenance of the track systems after the First World War in connection with a locomotive, which reacted particularly sensitively.
