Sigersted Sogn is a parish municipality ( Danish : Sogn ) on the island of Sjælland in southern Denmark . Until 1970 it belonged to Harde Ringsted Herred in what was then Sorø Amt , then to Ringsted Kommune in Vestsjællands Amt , which became part of the Sjælland region on January 1, 2007 as part of local government reform .
The parish has 448 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020). The church "Sigersted Kirke" is located in the parish.
Neighboring municipalities are in the north Bringstrup Sogn , in the east Ringsted Sogn and in the southwest Høm Sogn and Vetterslev Sogn , further in the south neighboring Næstved municipality Vrangstrup Sogn and in the western neighboring Sorø municipality Alsted Sogn (Sorø Kommune) and Fjenneslev Sogn .
history
The village, named after the mythical Kong Siger, owes its fame to the story of Hagbard and Signe. The king of an empire on Zealand lived a few hundred years before the Viking Age (800–1050 AD). The memory of the story is kept by Hagbards Høj, southwest of the place.
