Silvia is a municipality ( municipio ) in the department of Cauca in Colombia .

geography

Silvia is located in the Provincia de Oriente in Cauca at an altitude of 1800 to 3800 m above sea level. NN , 59 km from Popayán . The main town lies between the Piendamó river and the Quebrada Manchay stream at 2600 m above sea level. NN . The municipality is bordered to the east by Paez and Inza , to the west by Cajibío and Piendamó , north to Caldono and Jambaló and south to Totoro .

Silvia was founded in 1562. The original name was Guambía . The place has had its current name since 1838. The place has moved several times in the course of its history. Silvia has been at its current location since 1806.
