Sipalay is located in the west of the island of Negros . The city belongs to the province of Negros Occidental in the Western Visayas in the Philippines . It has a population of 70,070 (August 1, 2015 census), which is distributed over 17 barangays .

The city has km² size of 427.7 and is bordered to the west by the Sulu Sea in the north with the Municipality of Cauayan , on the east by the Municipality of Candoni and the south by the Municipality of hinoba-an . Sipalay City is around 178 kilometers from the provincial capital Bacolod and can be reached by road in three to four hours. The city has a coastline of 45 kilometers.
