Sneads is a city in Jackson County in the US state of Florida with 1849 inhabitants (as of 2010).

geography

Sneads is about 30 km east of Marianna and about 75 km northwest of Tallahassee . To the north of the city, the Three Rivers State Park borders the junction of the Flint River with the Chattahoochee River to form the Apalachicola River .

Demographic data

According to the 2010 census, the then 1849 inhabitants were distributed over 1169 households. The population density was 160.8 inh / km². 78.0% of the population identified themselves as whites, 18.5% as African American , 0.2% as Indians and 0.4% as Asian Americans . 1.5% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 1.4% to several ethnic groups. 2.7% of the population was made up of Hispanics or Latinos .

In 2010 children under the age of 18 lived in 31.0% of all households and persons aged 65 or over lived in 33.9% of all households. 62.6% of the households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring). The average household size was 2.31 people and the average family size was 2.91 people.

21.0% of the population were younger than 20 years, 21.8% were 20 to 39 years old, 25.6% were 40 to 59 years old, and 24.8% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 40 years. 45.9% of the population were male and 54.1% were female.

The median annual income was $ 25,431, with 18.0% of the population living below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the first language of 97.87% of the population and 2.13% spoke Spanish .

Sneads is crossed by US Highway 90 ( SR 10 ). The nearest airport is Tallahassee International Airport (approximately 75 km southeast).

The crime rate in 2010 was 335 points (US average: 266 points) in the average range. There were two rapes, three assaults, three break-ins, 94 thefts, one car theft and three arson attacks.
