Somerville is a town in Lincoln County in the state of Maine in the United States . In 2010, 548 people lived there in 309 households on an area of 59.08 km².

Geographical location
Somerville is in the north of Lincoln County and is also the northernmost town in the county. It is bordered by Waldo County to the north, Kennebec County to the west and Knox County to the east . To the west is Long Pond , to the north is Turner Pond and in the center of the Town area is James Pond . The Sheepscot River flows through it and Long Pond in a southerly direction from Sheepscot Pond . The surface is flat, without any significant elevations.

history
Somerville was organized as a town on March 25, 1858. Previously the area was known as the Patricktown Plantation . This had existed since 1813. On April 17, 1937, at the height of the Great Depression , the organization as Town was abolished and Somerville was organized as Somerville Plantation . The reorganization as a town took place on February 6, 1974.
