China is a town in Kennebec County in the state of Maine in the United States . In 2010 there lived 4328 inhabitants in 1718 households on an area of 147.27 km².

According to the United States Census Bureau , China has a total area of 147.27 km², of which 129.19 km² is land and 18.08 km² is water .
Geographical location
China is located in the east of Kennebec County, to the northeast is bordered by Waldo County and to the southeast by Lincoln County . The largest lake in the town is China Lake in the northwest. In the southwest of the Threemile Pond borders on the area of the town. The surface is slightly hilly, without any major elevations.

history
China was first organized under the name Jones Plantation . In 1776 the area was organized as a town under the name Harlem . From this and parts of the towns of Albion and Winslow, the town of China was founded on February 5, 1818. What was left of Harlem was added to the town area in 1822.

Economy and Infrastructure
traffic
The US Highway 202 runs north to south through China, connecting China to the north with Bangor and south of Augusta. The Maine State Route 3 branches off to the east of the highway and the Maine State Route 32 in the northwest.
Public facilities
There are no medical institutions or hospitals in China. The closest are in Waterville.
A public library, the Albert Church Brown Memorial Library is located in the China Village in China,
