Geographical location
Vassalboro is centrally located in the north of Kennebec County. To the west, the town is bounded by the Kennebec River . To the northeast lies China Lake , in southeastern Threemile Pond and central location of Webber Pond . The surface is slightly hilly, with no significant elevations.

history
Settlement in Vassalboro began in 1760 along the Kennebec River, but initially very slowly. Eight years later, there were only ten families in the area. The town of Vassalboro was organized on April 26, 1771, initially under the name Vassalborough . Land was given to Sydney in 1792, and land was added from China in 1829. The area was part of the Kennebec Purchase from Governor Bradford's Plymouth Plantation in Massachusetts.
The Oak Grove Seminary and Commercial College was founded in 1844 by the Society of Friends founded.

The US Highway 201 extends in the north-south direction parallel to Kennebec River by the Town. The US Highway 202 runs through the southeast corner of Vassalboro and the Maine State Route 32 through the northeast corner.
