description

From the former Teutonic Order Church, under the patronage of Hermann von Salza , Grand Master of the Teutonic Order since 1222, the cross-shaped components with the church tower in the middle have been preserved. Traces of an apse and a Romanesque funnel window can also be seen. Remnants of side aisles suggesting a basilica cannot be detected. The tower has pointed arched sound arcades with early Gothic, chalice-shaped capitals . He got his slate-covered pointed helmet later. The bell is from 1499. Between the square choir and the south arm of the transept is a chapel named 1584.

The nave , which is covered with a mansard roof , was not built on older foundation walls until the 18th century . In the south is the entrance to the galleries . Above the portal in the west is a walled-up window with a coat of arms , marked 1554. The choir and the crossing have groin vaults , the southern transverse arm and the chapel are flat-roofed , the latter with the beginnings of vaulted ribs . In the northern cross arm there are walled-in fighters . The nave is covered with a wooden barrel vault. The ceiling painting shows the Ascension of Christ . The galleries are two-story, their parapets show scenes from the Old Testament and the New Testament , painted in grisaille , created in the 18th century.

The pulpit altar from 1741 has a polygonal floor plan , the altar panel shows the birth of Jesus Christ as well as Moses , John the Baptist and the virtues of faith and hope. There is a stone offering box in the choir . The organ is in the organ prospectus , decorated with fluted pilasters , tendrils and horns of plenty . It has 19 stops , divided into 2 manuals and a pedal , and was built in 1830 by Johann Gottlieb Schulze .
