Building description

Floor plan of St. Peter and Paul

The nave consists of three axes and has a barrel vault . Wide belt arches in the nave rest on wide pillars that are studded with pairs of pilasters . A two-story gallery is attached to the west side . The retracted choir with a semicircular end connects to the nave with a pressed choir arch. It has a barrel vault with stitch caps and consists of a window axis. The choir and nave have high, arched windows, above which are three-part curved wide windows. The outside of the nave is structured by pilasters. A slightly curved band of pilaster strips holds the pilasters together instead of an architrave . The west facade, which is also structured by pilasters, is closed off by a volute gable. The square church tower, divided into three parts by strong cornices, is located on the southwest corner of the nave and is also divided by pilasters. The basement of the tower extends to the eaves of the nave. The upper tower floors have decreasing heights. The corners of the upper floors are rounded. There are arched sound windows on the top floor of the tower. The pyramid helmet probably dates from the 19th century. There is a sign at the western end of the nave . It is covered with a hipped roof and is arched towards the north. Round-arched panels flanked by pilasters are located on the side walls of the sign. The sacristy is a rectangular extension at the apex of the choir and has a groin vault with three bays.

High altar

The high altar , as a marbled wooden structure with gilded decoration, was created in 1727 based on a design by Gabriel Weiß . The altar panel is flanked by three free pillars depicting the handover of the keys to the apostle Peter . The painting is inscribed with "Franz Georg Hörmann invenit et pinxit". On both sides of the high altar there are arched passages and above them larger than life figures of Saints Joseph and John the Baptist . The figures come from Anton Sturm . Two angels carry a cartouche with an image of Saint Bruno above the altarpiece . In the extension of the high altar is a modern picture flanked by two free pillars, which is crowned in glory by the Heart of Jesus and adored by a putto on each side . Angels and putti are attributed to Johann Georg Reusch . The cafeteria and tabernacle are modern.

Side altars

The two side altars , like the high altar, were made in 1727 according to a design by Gabriel Weiß and are marbled wooden structures. Both consist of a niche structure with a slightly curved canopy. The niches are flanked by staggered free columns. The left side altar has a bulging cafeteria. In the niche there is a mounted terracotta figure depicting a standing Mary with child. The figure was probably created in Augsburg around 1420 and comes from the same workshop as the Tonmadonna von St. Peter in Augsburg. In the extract above the terracotta figure there is a painting with the donation of the rosary to Saints Dominic and Catherine of Siena . The right side altar contains a wooden figure of Saint Barbara and is by Anton Sturm. In the excerpt above there is a picture with Saints Sebastian and Vitus. The putti and angels on both side altars are ascribed to Johann Georg Reusch, as on the high altar.

Stalls

The choir stalls of oak dates from around 1700. Each row consists of eight stables. The front parapets and dorsals are structured by pilasters. Foliage motifs and angel heads are in the fields of the front parapets. The simple children's chairs are also made of oak and come from the first half of the 18th century, as are the lay chairs with oak clamps.

confessional

The confessional on the south side of the nave dates from around 1730, the one on the north side is modern. Both are made from walnut. The middle parts are pulled forward. There are banding inlays in flat templates. The confessionals are crowned by foliage carving.

Tin signs and processional pole

There are a total of 30 tin signs for brotherhood poles in the church. One half dates from the first half of the 18th century, the other from the middle of the 18th century. These are painted with representations from the New Testament. The processional pole carries a small wooden figure of St. Sebastian.
