Stein is a district of the municipality of Tiefenbach in the Upper Palatinate district of Cham in Bavaria .

Geographical location

Stein lies on the western edge of the valley, which was created by the Bavarian Schwarzach between Kreuzberg, Irlberg, Auberg and Geißberg in the west and Silberberg, Hohem Holz, Degenberg and Pfaffenberg in the east. About 4 km southeast of Stein the Bavarian Schwarzach joins the Bohemian Schwarzach to form the Schwarzach . Stein forms a green village that lies in a hilly landscape. Stein is on State Road 2400 .

history

In 1270 Stein im Salbuch was mentioned in writing as being owned by the Siegenhofen family. There was a mill in Stein until the 1950s . At the beginning of the 20th century, increasingly higher demands were made on the flour quality , which the small mills could no longer meet and gradually sold their milling rights to the large milling companies. In the course of the regional reform , stone was assigned to the municipality of Tiefenbach on May 1, 1978. As of December 31, 1990, Stein is listed as part of the Hiltersried parish .

Culture and sights

The main attraction of Stein is the "Steiner Wirt" - a very old traditional inn with overnight accommodation. There is also a Lourdes Chapel in Stein, built in 1988. 1 km northeast of Stein is the Silbersee with bathing spots and a developed circular hiking trail.
