Rohrbach-Steinberg is a former municipality with 1429 inhabitants (as of October 31, 2013) west of Graz in Styria . Since 2015 it has been merged with the municipalities of Attendorf and Hitzendorf as part of the Styrian municipal structural reform . The new community bears the name "Hitzendorf".

Geographical location
Rohrbach-Steinberg is located about twelve kilometers west of the provincial capital Graz in the Graz-Umgebung district in western Styria .

history
Rohrbach is mentioned for the first time in 1284 in a document from Rein Abbey . The village of Aich at the confluence of the Reinbach and Liebochbach was mentioned as early as 1135 on the occasion of the foundation of the Rein monastery.
The local community as an autonomous body was established in 1850. After the annexation of Austria in 1938, the community came to the Reichsgau Steiermark, 1945 to 1955 it was part of the British zone of occupation in Austria.

The municipal council, which was dissolved on December 31, 2014, consisted of 15 members and, after the 2010 elections, was composed as follows: 11 SPÖ and 4 ÖVP .
The mayor was Heribert Uhl (SPÖ), who had headed the community since 2003. Brigitte de Vries (SPÖ) was vice mayor.

Rohrbach-Steinberg is off the main roads. The south autobahn A2 is about 14 km away and can be reached via the Mooskirchen junction (200). The same route takes about nine kilometers to Packer Straße B 70 towards Klagenfurt . The district and provincial capital Graz can be reached via state roads .
The central station Graz is about twelve kilometers away.
The distance to Graz Airport is approx. 25 km.
