Steve Eminger (born October 31, 1983 in Woodbridge , Ontario ) is a former Canadian ice hockey player and current scout , who played 508 games for the Washington Capitals , Philadelphia Flyers , Tampa Bay Lightning , Florida between 1999 and 2016 Panthers , Anaheim Ducks and New York Rangers has played in the National Hockey League on the position of defender .
Career
The 1.88 m tall defender began his career in 1999 with the Kitchener Rangers in the Canadian Junior League OHL , before he was selected ( drafted ) in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft as twelfth in the first round by the Capitals .
In the 2002/03 season , the right-handed shooter made his NHL debut, but after only 17 games, the Capitals sent him back to Kitchener, where he could help the Rangers to win the Memorial Cup . The following season he came in both the NHL for Washington and in their AHL - farm team , the Portland Pirates used. After his good performance with the Pirates in the 2004/05 lockout season , he was part of the NHL's Capitals squad from 2005, his first goal for Washington he scored 10 October 2005 in the game against the New York Rangers , it was his first Hit after 61 goalless games. In the course of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft , he was transferred to the Philadelphia Flyers .
He played 50 games for the Flyers, scored four goals and collected 23 points. On March 4, 2009, he was traded to the Florida Panthers . After only nine games and one goal, he was not offered a contract extension in Florida at the end of the 2008/09 season. On September 4, 2009, he signed a contract with the Anaheim Ducks . There he played 63 games, scored four goals and collected 16 points. On July 9, 2010, he was transferred to the New York Rangers .
From October 2013 Eminger was under contract with HK CSKA Moscow in the Continental Hockey League , but could not prevail there, so that he returned to North America in January 2014 and was signed by the Norfolk Admirals . At the beginning of the 2014/15 season he was active with the Providence Bruins , who handed him over to the Lake Erie Monsters in January 2016 , with whom he won the Calder Cup at the end of the 2015/16 season .
