Strothe is one of the smallest districts of the district town of Korbach in the north Hessian district of Waldeck-Frankenberg .
geography
Strothe is a small suburb of the district town of Korbach, 5 km away, with around 230 inhabitants. The rural community is located in the headwaters of the Werbe in a sheltered location and is surrounded by contiguous forest areas.
history
In the first known documentary mention, 1251, the Wolff von Gudenberg sell goods from "Strote", the original name, to the Volkhardinghausen monastery . In 1401 Otto III. von Waldeck a farm called "zu der Strutt" to fiefdom . In 1510 the village belongs to Count Philip III. from Waldeck-Eisenberg . At the beginning of the 18th century, a "Gesundbrunnen" is mentioned on the edge of the village, but it dried up again after a few years.
On July 1, 1970, until then independent municipality Alleringhausen was in the course of administrative reform in Hesse on a voluntary basis in the county seat Korbach incorporated . The municipality of Strothe had a district area of 3.57 km².
Bronze Age burial mounds
In the so-called "Streitholz" in the direction of Korbach there are burial mounds from the Bronze Age , which suggest that the area around today's Strothe was settled in earlier times.
