Goldhausen is a district of Korbach in the north Hessian district of Waldeck-Frankenberg .
Geographical location
Goldhausen is located in the north-western part of North Hesse in the far south-east of the Diemelsee Nature Park . It is located about 4.3 km (as the crow flies ) southwest of the city center of Korbach on the west to south-west slope of the 562 m high Eisenberg . Neighboring towns are Lengefeld in the north-northeast, Nordenbeck and Ober-Ense in the southeast, and Eppe in the southwest.
history
The gold mine on and in the Eisenberg was first mentioned in 1248 by Bishop Albertus of Regensburg . The mining , which lasted about 500 years until about 1617, resulted in a 900 m long, up to 12 m wide and up to 9 m deep open pit mine. There is evidence that more than 48 tunnels and 45 shafts were driven into the mountain. At the beginning of the 15th century a miners ' settlement was established , which was first mentioned in 1541 as "Goldhusen" .
On July 1, 1970, until then independent municipality Goldhausen the course was municipal reform in Hesse on a voluntary basis in the county seat Korbach incorporated .
Eisenberg Castle
Eisenberg Castle was first mentioned in a document in 1345 . It fell into the possession of the Waldecker Counts in 1421. In 1520 Count Philipp III. with the expansion to a castle. In 1586 the building of a castle chapel is mentioned.

- The Georg-Viktor-Turm , named after Prince Georg-Viktor zu Waldeck and Pyrmont , as a 24 m high observation tower allows a view of the Eisenberg castle ruins at the base of the tower and a panoramic view of the Upland up to the Ederbergland .
