Ober-Ense is one of the smallest districts of the district town of Korbach in the North Hessian district of Waldeck-Frankenberg .
geography
The place is a rural resort on the edge of the Diemelsee nature park , between the three dams ( Diemel , Eder and Twistesee ).
history
Ober-Ense was 1010 as "Aenesi" in the goods lists of the monastery Corvey first mentioned in documents. 1306 was another mention as Vorwerk of Korbach.
As part of the regional reform in Hesse , Ober-Ense was incorporated into the city of Korbach on December 31, 1970, together with Nordenbeck and Nieder-Ense on a voluntary basis . The municipality of Ober-Ense had a district area of 3.17 km².
Castle
On the southern edge of the village are the remains of a castle built before 1350, of which only parts of the wall and two corner towers have been preserved. The builders were the lords of Engern. The Lords of Padberg pledged the castle to Archbishop Friedrich of Cologne in 1410 . In 1471 the nobleman Philipp von Grafschaft bought the castle. The Counts of Waldeck did not tolerate any possession of Cologne in their territory and, after numerous feuds , came into possession of the castle in 1454 .
