The Sulisartut Partiiat ( Greenlandic for "Workers' Party") was a political party in Greenland .

history

The Sulisartut Partiiat emerged from Grønlands Arbejder Sammenslutning (GAS), which stood as a candidate association in the last regional council elections. The Siumut had offered their support to the trade union federation, but they were of the opinion that one should not join a certain party and founded the Sulisartut Partiiat on February 4, 1979.

She ran in the first election for Inatsisartut, but could not win a seat. She also failed in the same year in the Folketing election as well as in the following 1981, in which she ran together with the Inuit Ataqatigiit as Inuit Suleqatigiit . It then disappeared into insignificance and dissolved in the course of the following year, with the members turning partly to the Siumut and partly to the Inuit Ataqatigiit.

The reason for the party's unsuccessfulness is seen to be that at that time the only relevant question was that of the autonomy of Greenland, with the Siumut on the nationalist and the Atassut on the unionist side bringing together almost the entire electorate.

Political orientation

The party directly represented the interests of the trade union federation and had the goal of gathering all workers in Greenland into one party.
