Alternative (German Die Alternative ; party letter : Å) is a political party in Denmark . She advocates a social restructuring based on a left - green policy .

history

Alternative was initiated in November 2013 by the former Minister of Culture Uffe Elbæk (formerly Radliche Venstre ) and officially approved for the upcoming election in March 2015. Its membership initially consisted primarily of supporters of the political left and the center; A survey in 2014 showed that the majority of the party's members in the 2011 Folketing election had voted left-wing extremists (28.8%), socially liberal (27.4%) and socialist (20.8%).

For the first time, Alternativet competed in the Folketing elections in 2015 , but was already represented in the Folketing with one seat (through Elbæk's exit from the parliamentary group). In the election campaign, the party made u. a. strong for a Veggie Day and the introduction of the 30-hour week and was able to move into parliament with 4.8% of the votes (9 seats). In the 2019 Folketing Election , she received 3.0% of the vote and thus had five seats.

For the European elections in 2019 , Alternativet worked with the pan-European movement DiEM25 . On March 9, 2020, four of the five members of the Alternative parliament resigned from the party and parliamentary group, including party founder Elbæk. They justified this with their dissatisfaction with the leadership style of the new party leader Fock , who has been in office since February 1st.

aims

In 2014, Alternativet presented the first principles with a “Manifesto” and in 2015 a party program was adopted. It advertises a new political culture, demands ecological, social and economic sustainability , emphasizes the importance of education and lifelong curiosity, art and culture, entrepreneurship, social ingenuity and holism.

Alternativeet is emphatically pro-European and in the 2019 European elections entered into an electoral alliance with Radical Venstre , which is also considered pro-European.
