action

The high school -teacher Freddy Shoop wants to share with his girlfriend holiday in Hawaii to spend. Meanwhile, a group of students - including Pam House, Denise Green, Larry Kazamias, and Kevin Winchester - learns that they will have to take additional classes during the summer vacation due to poor academic performance. Two of the students, Francis Gremp and Dave Frazier, are fans of the horror film Blood Court in Texas . The teacher designated as supervisor wins a lottery and quits. Alternatively, Shoop is assigned to look after the students.

The teacher's girlfriend leaves alone. Shoop often meets his colleague Elizabeth Bishop, who often meets with assistant principal Phil Gills. He falls in love with Bishop. Meanwhile, he promises students additional benefits in studying; among other things, he teaches Green to drive.

The students make friends with Shoop and study intensively. Gills wants to fire Shoop if not all students pass the final exam. Some students fail, but the parents of the students stand up for Shoop, which impresses the school principal Kelban. Bishop and Shoop become a couple.

Reviews

Roger Ebert wrote in the Chicago Sun-Times of July 22, 1987 that the comedy was so mindless that he had to force himself to watch the action carefully. The film has no right to exist; he doesn't leave a lasting impression after leaving the cinema.

The Lexicon of International Films wrote that Summer School was "a teenage film with astonishing depth". He entertains "largely enjoyable", but as a "drastic horror film parody" is not "digestible for everyone".

backgrounds
