Music video

Super Bass is another video release from Minaj's debut album Pink Friday . The video was shot in March 2011, but the premiere wasn't until May 5, 2011. The director was Sanaa Hamri.

In the song, Minaj tells the story of a boy whom she has cast an eye on and whose attention she tries to get in a playful way. She describes how she flirts with her dream man in a club.

The video starts with a close-up of Minaj. She opens her eyes and begins to blink as the music starts. Minaj initially appears in Barbie style with a bizarre facial expression, but later smiles a lot and looks more delicate than you are used to from her. At the beginning of the video she wears a pink wig, which is later replaced by a green one. A pink Ferrari, a pink plane and a pink pool can be seen. In general, pink is the dominant color of the video. In addition to identically dressed background dancers , four huge loudspeakers made of blocks of ice stand out in the background. Minaj flirts with some muscular colored men and rides an ice motorcycle in a skin-tight pink body suit. Her pink lips, hair and make-up glow in the black light towards the end of the video while she strokes her partner's lap in dancing movements. This glow-in-the-dark scene is the climax of the video, which is not only sharply separated from the preceding scenes in terms of color, but also musically. The final scene shows Minaj slightly biting her own index finger.
