The 2004 Supersport World Championship season was the sixth in the history of the FIM - Supersport World Championship . Ten races were held.
Distribution of points
The world champion will be the driver or manufacturer who has accumulated the most points in the world championship by the end of the season. When distributing points, the placements are taken into account in the overall result of the respective race. The top fifteen drivers in each race receive points according to the following scheme:

1 In the round at Oschersleben, the top six were Honda Pilot because of a faulty homologated weight of the rear wheel axle disqualified . Honda informed the FIM that a mistake had been made when completing the homologation documents, and the disqualification of the pilots was lifted again, but the constructor points were withdrawn from Honda.
