Surfacing is a song by American Metal - band Slipknot .

background

The song came about when the band members moved to Los Angeles to Mate on the upcoming demo album . Feed. Kill. Repeat. (1996) to work. At a party that was held there, the band clashed with other visitors. With this song the band wanted to show these people how "crazy" the Midwestern United States ( Iowa, to be precise ) is, where the band originally comes from.

Chris Fehn , one of two percussionists in the band, said in an interview about surfacing as follows:

“It basically encompasses everything. Kind of encompasses the attitude of the band and the attitude of how we feel about life: Don't judge me. Everything that you think that you know about the world, and about Slipknot, and about your own life, might not be the case. So I think it's just openmindedness and just be cool. "

“It basically includes everything. It encompasses the band's attitude and how we think about life: "Don't judge me." Everything you think you know about the world, Slipknot and your own life may not be the case at all. So I think it's just cosmopolitan and cool. "

The chorus of the song " Fuck it all, fuck this world, fuck everything that you stand for, don't belong, don't exist, don't give a shit, don't ever judge me " is also on a photo all band members have been printed on the back of the debut booklet.
