Switlana Jurijiwna Sahinajtschenko ( Ukrainian Світлана Юріївна Загінайченко , Russian Светлана Юрьевна Загинайченко Svetlana Yuryevna Saginaitschenko * 10. August 1957 in Kiev ; † 23. November 2015 in Dnipropetrovsk ) was a Soviet - Ukrainian solid state physicist .

Life

Sahinajtschenko's mother Sinaida Alfredovna Matyssina (* 1927) is a professor at the National Oles Honchar University in Dnipro and works scientifically at the Franzevich Institute for Problems of Materials Science (IPM) of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (NANU) in Kiev. From 1964 Sahinajtschenko attended Middle School No. 9 in Dnepropetrovsk with increased English lessons , where four subjects were taught in English. In 1973 she moved to Middle School No. 19, where she passed all final exams with distinction in 1974. She then studied physics at the Dnepropetrovsk State University with a degree in 1979. This was followed by an apprenticeship at the Dnepropetrovsk Brezhnev Institute for Metallurgy (degree in 1982), whereupon she became a research assistant there. In 1984 she successfully defended her dissertation on the solubility , magnetism and atomic distribution of ordered alloys with hexagonal crystal structure under Jaroslaw Jossifowitsch Duttschak during a three-day stay at the University of Lviv for her doctorate as a candidate in physical- mathematical sciences. Their results have received a lot of attention at home and abroad.

From 1989 to 2015 Sahinajtschenko was co-chair of the organizing committee of the International Conferences “Hydrogen Materials Science and Chemistry of Carbon Nanomaterials” (ICHMS) . In 1992 she became a member of the International Association for Hydrogen Energy .

In 1993, after successfully completing a selection process, Sahinajtschenko became a senior research scientist at the IPM of the NANU in Kiev. She headed the group for physical-mathematical methods of investigating solid-state properties . She was deputy head of the IPM Division No. 67 for. Hydrogen -Materialwissenschaft and chemistry of carbon - nanomaterials DW Schtschur with which they published together. In 1995 she became co-editor of the International Journal of Hydrogen Energy and a member of the New York Academy of Sciences . She was in contact with Borys Paton ( Ukraine ), Turhan Nejat Veziroğlu ( USA ), Mosche Ron ( Israel ), Michail Solomonowitsch Blanter ( Russia ), Harold Kroto ( United Kingdom ) and others in other countries. Together with others, she wrote the first Russian monograph on fullerenes , which appeared in 2001.

After successfully defending her doctoral thesis on the statistical thermodynamics of concentration- stimulated effects of superstructure and ferroelastic transformations of multi-component systems at the Kurdjumow Institute for Metal Physics at NANU, she received her doctorate in physical-mathematical sciences in 2004 . Their results have been presented at many conferences at home and abroad.

Sahinajchenko published joint works with her mother. Together with others, Sahinajtschenko translated a book on solar -hydrogen energy from English into Ukrainian , which was published in 2006. In 2010 she was co-chair of the organizing committee of the NATO Advanced Research Workshop Carbon Nanomaterials in Clean-Energy Hydrogen Systems .
