Tea Leoni
Tea Leoni (* 25. February 1966 in New York City as Elizabeth Téa Pantaleoni ) is an American actress and film producer .
Life
Leoni is the daughter of a business lawyer and a dietician . Through her grandmother, the actress Helenka Adamkowska , she is related to the Polish composer and politician Ignacy Jan Paderewski , and through her husband also to the Italian politician Maffeo Pantaleoni . She enrolled in anthropology and psychology at Sarah Lawrence College , but dropped out in favor of her acting career.
Career
Leoni made her acting debut in the Soap California Clan in 1989 ; she shortened her long name to today's stage name Téa Leoni. She played her first film role in 1991 in the film Switch - The woman in the man . In the following years she was seen in supporting roles in larger productions such as Wyatt Earp - The life of a legend or A class of its own . She played her first leading female role at the side of Will Smith in Bad Boys . Her biggest role to date was three years later in the disaster film Deep Impact , in which she played a reporter. In 2001 she played in Jurassic Park III . In the same year Leoni also won the Saturn Award for best leading actress for her role in Family Man , where she prevailed against Cate Blanchett and Michelle Pfeiffer , among others . In 2005 she starred alongside Jim Carrey in the comedy Dick and Jane . In 2011 she starred in the gangster comedy substitute gangster with Ben Stiller .
Téa Leoni also works as a film producer, for example in the film You Kill Me (2007) or in the series Madam Secretary , which was broadcast on CBS from 2014 to 2019 , in which she also played the title role of the fictional US Secretary of State Elizabeth McCord .
Personal
Leoni had been married to fellow actor David Duchovny since 1997 , with whom she lived again after a temporary separation. The two have two children. The marriage ended in divorce in August 2014. She has been in a relationship with her co-actor from Madam Secretary, Tim Daly , since December 2014 .
The asteroid (8299) Téaleoni , discovered in 1993, was named after her in 2002.
