Preluders was a German girl group of five singers, which emerged in 2003 from the third season of the ProSieben singing competition Popstars - Das Duell .

The last formation of the band consisted of the founding members Anh-Thu Doan, Miriam Cani and the new member Patricia "Trish" Sadowski. They separated in the fall of 2006.

history

Preluders emerged in 2003 from the third season of the ProSieben casting show Popstars , in the framework of which the bands Bro'Sis and No Angels had previously been formed. In the duel of the final show, Preluders was defeated by their opponent, the boy band Overground, in a viewer vote .

Originally planned as a quartet, Anh-Thu Doan (* December 19, 1986 in Lörrach ), Miriam Cani (* May 30, 1985 in Elbasan , Albania ), Rebecca Miro (* July 27, 1983 in Berlin ) and Tertia Botha (* June 8, 1979 in Cape Town , South Africa ) for the recording of her debut album in the studio. Anne Ross (born March 17, 1985 in Dersum ) only completed the band through a subsequent nomination after the producers were looking for vocal reinforcement.

The Preluders' first single, Everyday Girl , made it straight to first place in the German single charts and the following debut album Girls in the House was quite successful, although the reviews were rather mixed. While some media dealt with the album benevolently, musicbeat.de spoke of nice up-tempo pop, which, however, was not really convincing. At laut.de it was even badly slated. Later releases of the Preluders could no longer place in the top 20 of the German charts.

The 2004 published Prelude to History was a cover album that was intended as a “musical journey back in time to the good old 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s”.

Botha left the band in June 2005, followed by Miro in August of the same year. The remaining three band members wanted to continue, but did not release a new piece. At The Dome 36 , the remaining band members presented the song Never Before , which was announced as a new single . However, it was never published by the Preluders. In 2009 Sandra covered the song on her album Back to Life .

In late 2005, Anne Ross had her last public television appearance before she left the band as the third. She was replaced by Trish Sadowski (born August 22, 1988 in Guttstadt , Poland ), with whom Cani and Doan released the single I Want Your TIME on July 28, 2006 . In autumn 2006 it was announced that the rest of the band would also go their separate ways.

In 2004 the Preluders were awarded three gold records for the album Girls in the House and the singles Everyday Girl and Do They Know It's Christmas? , feat. TV Allstars excellent. In total, the band sold over 400,000 records.
