The Big Bang is an American neo-noir thriller written by Erik Jendresen and directed by Tony Krantz . The main roles are played by Antonio Banderas , Sienna Guillory , Sam Elliott and Thomas Kretschmann . James Van Der Beek , known from Dawson's Creek, has a guest appearance as an eccentric movie star. The film pays homage to the film noirs of the black series and reverses their imagery through the innovative use of color and light.
action
The plot revolves around private detective Ned, played by Antonio Banderas, who is hired to find a missing stripper. Ned succeeds in questioning the key characters - but unfortunately everyone who has spoken to Ned is dead shortly afterwards. Pursued by the police, Ned continues to follow the trail, which takes him from the streets of Los Angeles to the desert of New Mexico leads. There Ned gets into a conflict between a brutal Russian boxer, three corrupt police officers (Poley, Frizer and Skeres) and an eccentric old millionaire who has put all his fortune to recreate the Big Bang , the eponymous "Big Bang", and thus that to find so-called " god particles " that prove the existence of a higher power.
criticism
The lexicon of international film found the production to be “[r] outinized genre fare of the harder pace”, albeit “with an unusual cast”. The film website kino.de spoke of a “peculiar content, technically competent and pretty-looking noir thriller with a mystery note”. On the US film review website Rotten Tomatoes , the film received only 13% positive reviews (15 reviews were evaluated).
