Curse - The Grudge 2 is an American mystery - horror - thriller from Takashi Shimizu from the year 2006 . The film is a sequel to The Grudge from 2004 . It is a co-production by Ghost House Pictures , Mandate Pictures , Vertigo Entertainment and Columbia Pictures on distribution by Constantin Film and opened in US cinemas on October 13, 2006 and in German cinemas on November 9, 2006.

Karen Davis, who is being cured there after a house fire, is lying in a sanatorium in Tokyo . She started the fire herself to save her friend Doug, as she says, but no one believes her. Instead, she is believed to be insane, and the Tokyo police are investigating her for murder because her boyfriend was killed in the burning house. Karen's sister Aubrey learns of the terrible incident in the United States through her sick mother.
She flies from Pasadena to Japan to help her sister. Shortly after she arrived, she was contacted by journalist Eason, who was also investigating the case. It was he who saved Karen from the burning house. But Aubrey does not know what to do with his warning of an enigmatic, dangerous woman in a white nightgown. Karen is thrown from the hospital roof by the same enigmatic figure in front of Aubrey and Eason. Eason and Aubrey visit the cursed house where Karen worked as a nurse to investigate the background to Karen's death. As they enter the house, they are both put under this curse, which is why they too must die. As before, they will be killed by Kayako or her son.
Allison also lives in Tokyo. She recently started attending the international school in Tokyo and tried to make friends with Vanessa and Miyuki. In doing so, she lets herself into a test of courage to which she persuades the two girls. They tell Allison about the scariest haunted house in Japan, where a crazy American girl killed her boyfriend and then tried to torch the house. The three enter the soot-blackened house and go up to the attic. Horror is already waiting for them there - in the form of Kayako, the girl who was once murdered there. The three girls flee and are also under the curse.
Trish and Bill recently got married in Chicago . Bill's son Jake can't warm up to his new stepmother Trish, especially since he is still grieving over his mother's death. His sister Lacey and her friend Sally, on the other hand, get on well with Trish and cannot understand Jake's reservations at all, preferring to enjoy themselves as a cheerleader. His observations get little attention when the child of the neighboring Flemings seems to go nuts. It turns out that the child of the Flemings is Allison, who fled the curse after it killed Vanessa, Miyuki and their psychiatrist in Tokyo. But she brings the curse with her to Chicago, so that it now haunts Allison as well as Trish and Bill and their children and finally kills them as well.

The lexicon of international films describes The Grudge 2 as an ambitious but always predictable horror story that adheres to tried and tested speculative basic patterns, but is more tired than frightened.
