The The Suburban Collection Motor City Open in 2019 were from 29 January to 2 February 2019 in Birmingham Athletic Club in Bloomfield Hills , Michigan , in the United States instead. The men's squash tournament was part of the PSA World Tour 2018/19 and belonged to the PSA World Tour Silver category .

Last year's winner was Marwan Elshorbagy , who started again in the top position. He was eliminated in the semifinals against Diego Elías . Elías met Mohamed Abouelghar in the final , who won the game 5:11, 11: 6, 11: 3, 4:11 and 11: 8.

The field of participants in the men's competition consisted of 24 players. The eight best players were seeded and given a bye in the first round. A wildcard was not awarded.
