Motor City Open 2014

The 2014 Motor City Open took place January 25-28, 2014 at the Birmingham Athletic Club in Bloomfield Hills , Michigan , United States . The men's squash tournament was part of the PSA World Tour 2013/14 and belonged to the International 70 category .

The defending champion was Amr Shabana , who reached the semi-finals that year. Shabana won the Tournament of Champions in New York City on January 24th and played the first round of the Motor City Open the next day. In the semi-final game against Mohamed Elshorbagy , he gave up after the third set, after playing seven games in nine days. In the final Elshorbagy won after 2-0 deficit against Peter Barker with 8:11, 12:14, 11: 4, 11: 6 and 11: 7. Elshorbagy won the tournament for the second time after 2011.

The field of participants in the men's competition consisted of 16 players, four of which were starting places for qualifiers. A wildcard was not awarded.

Prize money and world ranking points

At the tournament, the following prize money and world ranking points were paid out or credited for reaching the respective round. Players who entered the main field from qualification received the specified qualification points in addition to those for reaching the respective round. Otherwise the amounts are not to be understood as cumulative. The total prize pool was $ 70,000.
