Thea Garrett (born March 15, 1992 in Malta ) is a Maltese singer . She represented her country at the Eurovision Song Contest 2010 in Norway .

Life

The native Maltese Thea Garrett began her musical education as a child. She took musical lessons at the Masquerade Theater School and performed at the Manoel Theater in Valletta in plays such as The King and I and Beyond the Barriquades . She also received singing lessons from the Maltese soprano Gillian Zammit . Garrett is a member of the Enkor gospel choir and has performed with the British North West Choir. She also sang in an oratorio as a soloist in the Anglican Church in Valletta.

In London, she studied musicals, drama and vocal technique at Trinity Guildhall College and also took acting lessons at the Sylvia Young Theater School . Garrett, who claims to be influenced by Sarah Brightman and Whitney Houston , has already sang in the background choir of the Spanish flamenco artist Paco Peña . and had joint appearances in Rome and Milan with the Italian singer Gigi D'Alessio .

Eurovision Song Contest

On February 20, 2010, Thea Garrett took part in the Maltese preliminary decision for the Eurovision Song Contest 2010 . A total of 20 participants started at the Kanzunetta Maltija gropall-Ewropa / Malta Song For Europe event organized by the Maltese television company PBS at the Malta Fairs & Convention Center in Ta 'Qali . Garrett performed the song My Dream composed by Jason Cassar , the lyrics of which are from Sunny Aquilina. In a decision, half of which was determined by a jury and half by televoting , this song achieved first place by a clear margin. On May 25, 2010 Thea Garrett represented her home country Malta with My Dream in the first semifinals of the Eurovision Song Contest 2010 in Norway. However, the song failed to qualify for the finals.
