Chiara Siracusa (stage name Chiara ; born September 25, 1976 in Valletta ) is a Maltese singer . She achieved international fame through repeated participation in the Eurovision Song Contest . There she only called herself Chiara.

Life

In 1998 she won the Malta Song for Europe entitled The One that I Love , so she was allowed to represent Malta at the 1998 Eurovision Song Contest in Birmingham , United Kingdom . Her song reached 3rd place in Birmingham.

In 2005 she won the Malta Song for Europe again , this time with the title Angel, which she wrote herself . At the Eurovision Song Contest 2005 in Kiev , Ukraine , her song reached 2nd place. She has been married to Peter Okagbue since 2005 and gave birth to their daughter Ebony in 2008.

At the Maltese preliminary decision for the Eurovision Song Contest 2009 on February 7, 2009 at the TVM , Chiara Siracusa won via televoting with the title What if We . With this song she represented her homeland in the final on May 16, 2009 in the Olimpijski -Arena in Moscow . There she could not build on the two previous successes and took 22nd place in the victory of the Norwegian Alexander Rybak .
