Hues lives in Bad Nauheim .

“The works are characterized by their individuality and expressiveness, clarity and conciseness of what is meant in terms of content, pictorial density that avoids all coincidences, is limited to the essentials and by a great sensitivity to form and color.” ( Prof. Albert Kiefer, father of Anselm Kiefer , Rastatt, 2005 )

Some of his works are owned by the Fondazione Opera Campana dei Caduti in Rovereto , the Spazio Tempo Arte Collection in Verona , the Friedberg district house (Hessen) and the cities of Frankfurt am Main and Bad Nauheim.

Works

Fragments

In his “Fragments” series, Hues paints oil paintings in intense blue and red tones and combines these as assemblages with stones and woods. The object images are clearly structured, with fragments in the foreground that appear independent in form and color and point to the respective, original location. These fragments appear with the appropriate coloring and color structure of the background as an overall picture in the form of a relief .

Pace - images of peace

The series “Pace - Images of Peace” is based on computer-animated picture collages . Here 1000 individual photographs - thematically defined and determined according to brightness values - are put together in pixel-like fashion to form large-format images. In their entirety, they reveal portraits of famous pacifists such as Mahatma Gandhi or Martin Luther King . In addition, this sequence documents current social problems such as war and atomic threats, the violation of human rights , freedom and independence of people, and the integration of different cultures and religions.

Graphic cycle

The graphic cycle includes etchings completed in earlier years . The graphics show heads and people in an expressive manner in mostly golden yellow colors with a rich palette of linear and two-dimensional structures. The theme of the cycle is people in life situations of isolation and oppression.

Western illusion

With titles such as “American Dream”, “Illusion” or “Traum des Westens”, Theo Hues documents a life oriented towards pleasure in bright colors and shows the lifelong dream of a world shaped by TV, film and advertising. His pictures, partially painted over photo collages and reproductions with integrated color structures, are reminiscent of the Pop Art of the 1960s and are characterized by intense color contrasts.

The theme of the cycle "Western Illusion" is the change of ideals and values in society in the western world in the course of modern entertainment culture. Speed, addiction to intoxication and adventure, obsession with beauty and sex, money and status symbols, parties, sun and beach are leitmotifs in Hues' works of this approach to life, which is oriented towards material values.
