Theodor Riphan

Theodor Riphan (* 1577 in Neuss ; † January 14, 1616 in Cologne ) was auxiliary bishop in Cologne.

Riphan came from Neuss and became professor of theology in Cologne, where he was also rector of the old University of Cologne from 1604 to 1605 . On August 30, 1606 he was appointed titular bishop of Cyrene and auxiliary bishop in the Archdiocese of Cologne . The apostolic nuncio Attilio Amalteo donated him the episcopal ordination on March 13, 1607 in Cologne Cathedral .

During a sermon in the St. Maria Council Chapel in Jerusalem , he suffered a stroke , of which he died. He was buried in the St. Laurentius parish church in Cologne .
