Adrian van Walenburch

Adrian van Walenburch (also Adrian Walenburch ; born May 23, 1609 in Rotterdam , † September 14, 1669 in Wiesbaden ) was a Catholic clergyman and auxiliary bishop in Cologne .

Life

He was the son of a respected Catholic family in Rotterdam and the older brother of Peter van Walenburch (1610–1675), who, like him, embarked on a spiritual career.

After theological studies in Saint-Omer , he was ordained a priest there on September 24, 1633 . On August 8, 1661 he was appointed titular bishop of Hadrianopolis in Honoriade and auxiliary bishop in Cologne. He was ordained bishop on November 30th of the same year in the Minorite Church in Bonn by the Archbishop of Cologne Maximilian Heinrich von Bayern ; Co-consecrators were his brother Peter van Walenburch, auxiliary bishop in Mainz , and Jean Antoine Blavier , auxiliary bishop in Liège .

Adrian van Walenburch officiated from December 6, 1661 to June 10, 1668 as auxiliary bishop and vicar general in the Archdiocese of Cologne. He found his final resting place in the Mainz collegiate church of St. Peter .
